By
now Matt’s style of work full of sketchy people and crowds and queues
had become familiar and Matt decided to use this in his next exhibition ‘Wilde’s
people’. Matt painted recognisable places fairly photographically to use
as backgrounds and then applied his familiar sketchy people. The sketchy people
were on there way to his exhibition in Mathew Street to help out with his paintings.
In Matt’s mind they would climb or drive onto his paintings once they
arrived, something that may happen in the future with the help of animation.
By this time people on the paintings were turning up on other paintings of Matt’s
hence the title ‘Wilde’s people’.
